Calhoun Lofts Facility Earns Lofty Praise

Within the past month, the Calhoun Lofts facility has either garnered praise and/or increased attention through the various awards received since its opening. In mid-March, the building was recognized as an outstanding project from Learning by Design magazine. The building was featured on the magazine’s cover and received coverage throughout the publication. Kirksey Architecture, the Houston firm that designed the $107.2 million facility, earned an honorable mention award and was cited for design of the lofts.

In April, the Houston Business Journal honored Calhoun Lofts with a special project award. The Landmark Award recognizes real estate projects and developments that make significant impressions on the Houston landscape and continue to improve the look, feel and image of the city.

"HBJ's landmark award to UH Calhoun Lofts recognizes the cutting-edge nature of its design and functionality in a college setting," said Elwyn C. Lee, vice president for student affairs. "Our outstanding graduate and professional students who come from all over the world now have a place that is outstanding and world class as well."
